
Get a library card at any of the service desks or at the Bookmobile! HPL has card types for all ages. Most card types are based on age and residency, but there are also special cards for organizations, students, and temporary residents. Speak to one of our friendly staff members to learn more.
Need A New Card?
If you haven’t had a card before or it’s been a while, apply for a library card here! This will give you instant access to our digital resources for 30 days. Complete the online form, then when you are ready, simply go to any service desk with a photo ID and proof of address to receive your permanent physical card. Physical library cards are valid for 3 years from the date of issue.
You can also signup for a State Library of Kansas card below. This free card will provide you with access to all of the digital resources that the State Library has to offer. State Library cards are also valid for 3 years. More information about the State Library can be found at https://library.ks.gov
Need to Renew Your Card?
Need to renew your card? Simply visit any service desk with your photo ID or library card, and a staff member will update your contact information and renew your card for another 3 years. Alternatively, you can give us a call at (785) 625-9014 and provide us with your card number and we can do the same updates over the phone. If you have any questions regarding your account, please give us a call or stop by a service desk.

To access your online account, enter your library card number and PIN (the last four digits of your card number or a four-digit number you chose when signing up for your card).
Access your online account to perform tasks such as:
- Update your information
- View and renew your currently checked out items
- View and manage your holds
- View your loan history (if enabled)
- Create and manage saved lists and searches
